Very helpful. According to the Garmin documentation, there is no configuration required for the GTX 23ES and GPS 20A if connected per their (G3X) installation manual. Second, does the GPS 20A connect via direct serial connection to the GTX 23ES? Assuming a G3X touch avionics suite, the GPS 20A should have two data connections, CAN Bus to the G3X and RS-232 serial directly to the transponder. Not knowing the details of the installation, I would look for two possibilities.įirst, does the GTX 23ES have software version 8.00 or higher? Looks like Dec 2015 is when that version was released, so if the unit is newer than 2015, it should work for ADS-B "out". That looks like it points to the GPS 20A interface to the GTX 23ES transponder.
These appear to pertain to ADS-B (GPS) position source. According to AC 20-165, SIL stands for Source Integrity Level, and SDA stands for System Design Assurance.
